# Best Gravity Forms Alternatives for 2026

The best Gravity Forms alternative for most teams is [Paperform](/form-builders/), because Gravity Forms sells a form field while everything after the submit button becomes another add-on, plugin or vendor you assemble yourself. Paperform covers forms, eSignatures and workflow automation in one hosted subscription at $49/month billed annually.

Gravity Forms has earned its position. Eighteen years old, more than five million active sites, roughly 56% of the WordPress forms category by 6sense's count, 500+ developer hooks and a first-party add-on library nothing else inside WordPress comes close to. It is also cheap on paper: $59 a year for one site, $159 for three, $259 for unlimited sites with every add-on included. Against Paperform Pro at $588 a year, that is not a close contest and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

The reason people search for alternatives anyway is what the price sheet does not show. Count the pieces in a Gravity Forms process that ends with a signed contract and a record in the CRM. The plugin. The WordPress host. A Gravity Wiz perk for conditional pricing, because native calculations are merge-tag arithmetic with no IF statements. GFChart, because entries live in a wp-admin table with no charts. DocuSign or similar, because the Elite signature field captures a squiggle rather than running a signing process. Zapier, because there is no official Make integration and webhooks are Elite-only. Each has its own renewal date, its own release cycle and its own support desk, and the person holding all of it together is you. The customer becomes the integration layer, and that role does not appear on any invoice until something breaks at 2am.

Support works the same way. Basic and Pro licences get standard support; priority support starts at Elite. When a submission fails to reach HubSpot, the triage between Rocketgenius, the add-on author, your host and your theme developer is unbilled work that lands on your team. Below we rank the strongest alternatives on the five dimensions that actually decide the purchase, and we say plainly where Gravity Forms still wins.

*Gravity Forms is precise about what it sells: powerful data capture inside WordPress. The pieces that turn captured data into a finished process are sold elsewhere.*

## The Five Dimensions That Decide It

Gravity Forms wins the first of these outright and loses the last one badly. Here is where it lands against the alternatives on each.

Pricing

**Gravity Forms is sold as an annual licence only: Basic $59/year for one site, Pro $159/year for three sites, Elite $259/year for unlimited sites, plus a Nonprofit tier at $129/year, with unlimited forms and unlimited entries on every tier.** There is no free plan, no free trial and no enterprise tier above Elite, though there is an interactive demo and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Among the hosted alternatives, Cognito Forms Pro is $19/month billed annually, Typeform Basic is $28/month annually, SurveyMonkey Individual Advantage is $32/month annually, Jotform Bronze is $34/month annually, and Paperform Pro is $59/month or $49/month billed annually. The licence cost is the one comparison Gravity Forms wins on every axis. What it excludes is hosting, third-party add-ons and every product that runs after the form.

Integrations & API

**Gravity Forms ships 50+ official add-ons, a REST API, 500+ developer hooks and a Zapier add-on reaching 5,000+ apps, but has no official Make integration and gates webhooks to the Elite tier at $259/year.** Reaching Make therefore costs Elite plus webhooks plus a Make subscription, which is three purchases to move data out of a form. Paperform counts 4,000+ integrations with native Make and Zapier on every plan; Jotform has 150+ native connectors; Typeform has 120+; SurveyMonkey has 100+; Google Forms has roughly 20 inside Workspace. The deeper contrast is what the pipes are for. Most of what teams rent an automation vendor to do, routing, approvals, CRM updates, is inside Paperform's subscription already as Stepper.

Conditional logic

**Gravity Forms includes conditional logic on the Basic tier with AND/OR rules that show or hide fields, sections, pages and buttons, but no nested logic natively, and its calculations are merge-tag arithmetic with no IF functions or nested formulas.** Conditional pricing requires the third-party Gravity Wiz Advanced Calculations perk on a separate renewal. Cognito Forms has the strongest calculation engine among the cheaper alternatives, handling repeating sections and line-item order forms. Paperform's calculations are Excel-style and drive far more than a total: a single formula can control whether a question or an entire page appears, which conditional email fires, what payload an integration receives and what the success page displays, with an AI assistant to write the formula.

Payments

**Gravity Forms supports 3 payment processors natively, Stripe, PayPal and Square, all gated behind the Pro tier at $159/year, with Google Pay only through Stripe's wallet support, no Braintree, no built-in tax calculation, no conditional pricing rules and no invoicing.** The Basic plan cannot take money at all. Coupons require Elite. Paperform supports 5 gateways on every plan, Stripe, PayPal, Square, Braintree and Google Pay, with subscriptions, coupons, tax rules, refunds and product management built in and no transaction fee of its own. Jotform is the breadth leader with 40+ processors including regional gateways. Typeform and SurveyMonkey are Stripe-only, and Google Forms takes no payments at all.

Compliance (HIPAA / GDPR / SOC 2)

**Gravity Forms is GDPR compliant and holds no SOC 2, no ISO 27001 and no HIPAA, offers no BAA, provides no SSO and stores form data unencrypted in the customer's WordPress database.** Compliance is the site owner's responsibility, delivered through their own hosting and third-party plugins. Paperform is SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and CCPA compliant with SAML SSO and enforced 2FA, but is not HIPAA compliant and signs no BAAs. Jotform, Cognito Forms, Typeform, SurveyMonkey and Google Forms are all HIPAA, GDPR and SOC 2 compliant, and Jotform adds ISO 27001, PCI DSS Level 1 and FERPA. If protected health information is in scope, both Gravity Forms and Paperform are out.

#1 Paperform — Best for Turning One Stack Into One Subscription

 ![Paperform homepage](/images/form-builders/paperform/screenshot-homepage.png)

*Forms, Papersign eSignatures and Stepper workflow automation arrive on every plan, from one account and one dashboard.*

The comparison that matters here is not $259 a year against $588. It is a count of vendors. A Gravity Forms process that collects an application, prices it conditionally, produces a contract, gets it signed, routes it for approval and updates the CRM touches the plugin, the host, a Gravity Wiz perk, a signing tool, Zapier and probably GFChart so somebody can see the numbers. Six renewal dates, six changelogs, and a process whose real definition lives in nobody's product. One Paperform subscription contains the forms, Papersign for the contract and signature, and Stepper for the routing and the CRM update. Nothing is an add-on and nothing is bought separately.

The second difference shows up when things go wrong. In a self-hosted stack, working out whose fault a failed submission is counts as your unpaid work, and the level of vendor help you get is a function of which licence tier you bought. Gravity Forms puts priority support on Elite. Paperform builds human support into the seat price rather than selling an enablement engagement alongside the contract, and it rates 4.7 on Capterra and 4.9 on GetApp for support. Seats are unlimited on every plan, so the ops lead, the designer and the finance approver can all be inside the system rather than waiting on a weekly CSV from whoever holds the wp-admin login. Submissions are unlimited within fair use too, so a campaign that performs does not generate an overage conversation.

On the build itself, Paperform's editor is document-style: headings, copy, images, GIFs and video sit alongside questions in whatever order the page needs, with Unsplash, Giphy and an image editor built in. Against two WordPress themes and an HTML field, that is the difference between a marketer shipping a branded page and a marketer filing a ticket. Paperform is ten years old, founded in 2016, bootstrapped and profitable, and still run by its founders, which is worth weighing against a product whose owner changed in 2025.

 - **Strengths over Gravity Forms:** One subscription covering forms, Papersign eSignatures and Stepper workflows instead of four to six vendors; hosted with nothing to patch; SOC 2 Type II with SAML SSO; 5 payment gateways on every plan with tax, coupons and refunds; Excel-style calculations that drive visibility, emails and integrations; native Make and Zapier on all plans; 30,000+ templates against roughly 15; built-in analytics and AI Insights; unlimited seats and submissions within fair use
 - **Limitations:** $49/month billed annually is roughly ten times the Gravity Forms Elite licence cost; not HIPAA compliant and no BAAs; Stepper automation credits are metered at 20,000/month on Pro; no mobile editor; no WordPress-native plugin depth, hooks or access to your user table; a far smaller review base than Gravity Forms
 - **Best for:** Operators whose forms start a multi-step process and who are tired of owning the glue between five vendors

#2 Jotform — Best If You Left Over Payment Gateways or a BAA

 ![Jotform homepage](/images/form-builders/jotform/screenshot-homepage.png)

*Twenty years of accumulated breadth, hosted, with the compliance attestations Rocketgenius does not hold.*

Two Gravity Forms hard limits vanish in Jotform on day one. Payments go from three processors gated behind Pro to more than forty available on every plan including the free one, and the compliance answer changes completely: HIPAA with a signed BAA on Gold at $99/month billed annually, plus SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS Level 1, FERPA and StateRAMP. Where Gravity Forms hands a security reviewer a description of your hosting, Jotform hands them a folder of certificates. It is also bootstrapped and founded in 2006, so this is not a trade of an eighteen-year-old product for a startup, and it has native mobile apps where Gravity Forms has neither an app nor a mobile editor.

The catch is the meter, and it is sharp coming from a licence with unlimited entries. Jotform counts submissions, forms, form views, storage, fields per form and signed documents, and every self-serve tier from Starter through Gold is single-user. Bronze at $34/month annually allows 1,000 submissions; when they run out, forms stop accepting responses. A Gravity Forms site that quietly took 20,000 entries a year for a $159 licence becomes a very different conversation. Reviewers also consistently describe the interface as cluttered after two decades of accumulation, which will feel familiar to anyone who already finds wp-admin busy. Our [Jotform alternatives](/form-builders/jotform-alternatives/) page breaks the quota structure down in detail.

 - **Strengths over Gravity Forms:** 40+ payment processors on every plan including free, HIPAA with a BAA, SOC 2 and ISO 27001, 150+ native integrations, hosted with no maintenance, native mobile apps, approval workflows and PDF generation, thousands of templates
 - **Limitations:** Submissions, forms, views, storage and fields all metered where Gravity Forms is unlimited; single-user on every self-serve tier; cluttered interface; no WordPress-native depth; annual cost far above a $259 Elite licence at comparable volume
 - **Best for:** Teams whose blocker is a payment gateway Gravity Forms will not connect to, or a healthcare BAA it cannot sign

## ![](/images/form-builders/cognito-forms/logo.png)
#3 Cognito Forms — Best for Replacing a Gravity Wiz Calculations Perk

 ![Cognito Forms homepage](/images/form-builders/cognito-forms/screenshot-homepage.png)

*Utilitarian to look at, with the conditional pricing logic Gravity Forms sends you to a third-party perk for.*

If the thing you keep paying a Gravity Wiz renewal for is advanced calculations, Cognito Forms is the direct swap. Its calculation engine handles repeating sections, line-item order forms and nested conditional logic natively, at $19/month billed annually on Pro, and none of it depends on a perk from a separate vendor. It is also HIPAA compliant with a BAA and SOC 2 audited, which are two attestations Rocketgenius does not offer at any tier, and Cognito Pay adds native card processing with Apple Pay and Google Pay alongside direct Stripe, with PayPal and Square from the Team tier at $39/month annually.

Two things to weigh. Forms built in Cognito look dated unless somebody writes CSS, so if your Gravity Forms output is carefully themed to match a client site, this will be a visible step backwards on the front end. And the billing model inverts the one thing the plugin does well: Cognito meters entries, users, storage and guest collaborators separately, with Pro stopping at 2,000 entries a month and 2 users, extra users at $5 each per month and guest packs from $25 to $250 a month. Unlimited entries on a $59 licence is a hard act to follow. There is also no public REST API, which will matter to anyone who chose Gravity Forms for its 500+ hooks. See our [Cognito Forms alternatives](/form-builders/cognito-forms-alternatives/) page for the wider picture.

 - **Strengths over Gravity Forms:** Native advanced calculations with repeating sections and no third-party perk, HIPAA with a BAA, SOC 2, hosted with no WordPress to maintain, native card processing with Apple Pay and Google Pay, low entry price at $19/month annually
 - **Limitations:** Dated visual design and heavy CSS work to match a brand, no public REST API, metered four ways on entries, users, storage and guests, slower release cadence, no developer hook ecosystem
 - **Best for:** Budget-conscious teams whose Gravity Forms builds are really pricing calculators, especially in regulated work

## ![](/images/form-builders/typeform/logo.png)
#4 Typeform — Best for Conversational Forms Without the Elite Licence

 ![Typeform homepage](/images/form-builders/typeform/screenshot-homepage.png)

*The one-question-at-a-time format Gravity Forms reserves for its $259/year Elite add-on, as the whole product.*

Gravity Forms does have conversational forms, in the Conversational Forms add-on that arrives with Elite at $259/year. Typeform built the format and treats it as the default experience rather than an add-on, and for short lead-qualification and feedback flows where completion rate is the metric, it remains the reference implementation. It is HIPAA compliant on Business, holds ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 and ISO/IEC 42001, and carries the largest review base in this comparison by a wide margin. For a marketing team who only ever used Gravity Forms for campaign capture, it is a straightforward upgrade in presentation.

Then the meter arrives, and against unlimited entries it is brutal. Typeform caps responses and seats on every plan: 100 responses and 1 user on Basic at $28/month annually, 1,000 and 3 on Plus at $56/month annually, 10,000 and 5 on Business at $91/month annually, and Growth Flow at $266/month annually raises neither. Payments are Stripe-only, which is narrower than Gravity Forms Pro, and advanced logic and calculations sit behind Plus. Typeform is also Series C funded and roughly 500 people, a different sort of vendor bet from a bootstrapped plugin shop. Our [Paperform vs Typeform](/form-builders/paperform-vs-typeform/) comparison covers the metering in more depth.

 - **Strengths over Gravity Forms:** Conversational format as standard rather than an Elite add-on, best-in-class default aesthetics, HIPAA on Business, ISO 27001 and ISO/IEC 42001, hosted with no maintenance, 120+ integrations, by far the largest review base
 - **Limitations:** Responses and seats capped on every tier against unlimited entries in Gravity Forms, Stripe-only payments, advanced logic gated to Plus, no WordPress integration depth, venture-funded ownership
 - **Best for:** Marketing teams running short, high-value capture flows where presentation drives the result and volumes stay low

## ![](/images/form-builders/surveymonkey/logo.png)
#5 SurveyMonkey — Best for the Research Work Gravity Forms Cannot Report On

 ![SurveyMonkey homepage](/images/form-builders/surveymonkey/screenshot-homepage.png)

*A research instrument rather than a form plugin, with the analysis layer Gravity Forms sends you to GFChart for.*

Gravity Forms puts survey, quiz and poll add-ons on the Elite tier and then gives you a wp-admin table to read the results in, with charts available only through the third-party GFChart add-on. SurveyMonkey is the opposite shape: the analysis is the product. Cross-tabulation, significance testing, sentiment analysis on open text, benchmarking against industry data and a 335-million-person respondent panel are all things neither Gravity Forms nor any plugin in its ecosystem attempts. It is HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS 4.0 compliant and has been operating since 1999, so for formal research it is a serious answer.

It is a poor answer for the rest of what Gravity Forms does. Payments are Stripe-only, the form builder is a survey builder rather than a page builder, and the WordPress relationship is an embed at best. The billing is also the strictest here: every paid plan carries an annual response cap with a $0.15 charge per response over it, team plans start at three paid users and Enterprise at five, and since September 2026 every paid plan is an annual commitment. Individual Advantage is $32/month annually for 15,000 responses a year. SurveyMonkey is also owned by Symphony Technology Group, a private equity firm, which is a familiar consideration if the 2025 Rocketgenius acquisition is part of why you are reading this page.

 - **Strengths over Gravity Forms:** Genuine analysis layer with cross-tabs, significance testing and sentiment analysis, a 335M-person respondent panel, HIPAA and SOC 2 and ISO 27001, hosted, 100+ integrations, 26 years of operating history
 - **Limitations:** Annual response caps with $0.15 per-response overages, three-user minimum on team plans, annual commitment on every paid plan, Stripe-only payments, not a general-purpose form builder, private-equity ownership
 - **Best for:** Teams whose Gravity Forms surveys outgrew a table of entries and now need real statistical analysis

## ![](/images/form-builders/google-forms/logo.png)
#6 Google Forms — Best If the Plugin Was Always Overkill

 ![Google Forms homepage](/images/form-builders/google-forms/screenshot-homepage.png)

*Unlimited responses, no licence, no plugin updates, and none of the things that made Gravity Forms worth installing.*

Some Gravity Forms installations exist because somebody needed a form and WordPress was already there. If that describes yours, and the forms are internal, Google Forms removes the licence, the plugin update and the hosting question in one move. Responses are unlimited and free, it is HIPAA-eligible under a Workspace BAA, and SOC 2, ISO 27001 and FedRAMP come through Google Cloud. For an organisation already on Workspace from $7 per user per month on an annual commitment, that is a compliance position Gravity Forms cannot match at any tier, for no extra spend.

Everything else is a downgrade. No payments of any kind where Gravity Forms Pro takes three processors, roughly 20 integrations confined to Google's own ecosystem, no calculations worth the name, no custom domains, no meaningful branding control and a respondent experience that is unmistakably a Google Form on your customer's screen. It is also worth noting that Google Forms cannot embed into WordPress in any way that looks like part of your site. Our [Google Forms alternatives](/form-builders/google-forms-alternatives/) page covers the upgrade paths when this stops being enough.

 - **Strengths over Gravity Forms:** Free with unlimited responses, HIPAA-eligible under a Workspace BAA, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 and FedRAMP through Google Cloud, SSO and admin controls via Workspace, nothing to host or patch, zero learning curve
 - **Limitations:** No payments, no real calculations, no design control or custom domains, about 20 integrations, no developer hooks or API depth, visibly generic to respondents
 - **Best for:** Internal surveys and sign-up sheets inside a Workspace organisation that never needed a plugin in the first place

## Pricing Comparison

Gravity Forms is the cheapest entry on this page by a wide margin at $59/year, and the only product here billed as an annual site licence rather than a subscription. Read the table for what each product includes before the add-ons, rather than for the headline number alone.

## Review Ratings Across Platforms

Gravity Forms rates 4.7 on G2 across 240 reviews and 4.6 on Capterra across 91, with ease of use at 4.4 to 4.5 and customer support at 4.3 to 4.4, its two weakest sub-scores. The learning curve is the most common complaint in the aggregated user reviews collected by Hack'celeration.

## Verdict: Which Gravity Forms Alternative Should You Choose?

Start with the question underneath the search. If WordPress is genuinely the requirement, because your forms read your user table, fire your hooks and live inside your theme, then no hosted product on this page replaces Gravity Forms and you should keep the licence. Eighteen years, five million sites and 500+ developer hooks are not replicated by a SaaS embed.

If WordPress is simply where the form happens to live, the calculation changes. **Paperform** is the recommendation for teams whose forms are the opening step of a process rather than the whole of it. One subscription covers the form, the contract and signature through Papersign, and the routing and approvals through Stepper, hosted, SOC 2 Type II certified, with support included in the price instead of tiered by licence and unlimited seats so everyone who touches the process can actually be in it. It costs roughly ten times the Elite licence and it retires four or five other line items and the maintenance work behind them.

Where the blocker is narrower, take the tool that removes it. **Jotform** for payment processors beyond Stripe, PayPal and Square, or a HIPAA BAA. **Cognito Forms** for serious calculation work without a third-party perk on its own renewal. **Typeform** for conversational capture without paying for Elite. **SurveyMonkey** when the survey work needs real statistical analysis. **Google Forms** if the plugin was always more than the job required.

And if the honest answer is that you need a well-built form on a WordPress site and nothing after it, stay where you are. Gravity Forms at $159/year for three sites with unlimited entries is excellent value for exactly that. When the form starts triggering signatures, approvals and work in three other systems, Paperform's 7-day trial needs no card.

## Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a $59/year plugin end up costing more than a $588/year platform?

Because the licence is one line on the invoice. A Gravity Forms Basic licence at $59/year covers one site and no payment processing at all, so taking money means Pro at $159/year. Signatures, coupons, webhooks, partial entries and the survey and quiz add-ons sit on Elite at $259/year. Underneath that sits WordPress hosting, and beside it sit the things Rocketgenius does not sell: a real eSignature product, a workflow engine, visual reporting. Those arrive as Gravity Wiz or GravityKit perks, a DocuSign seat, a Zapier plan and GFChart, each with its own renewal date and its own support desk. **Paperform** Pro is $59/month, or $49/month billed annually, and inside that single subscription are forms, Papersign eSignatures and Stepper workflow automation, hosted, with nothing to patch. The licence is cheaper in Gravity Forms. The process is usually not.

Can I use Gravity Forms without a WordPress site?

No. Gravity Forms is a commercial GPL-licensed WordPress plugin, and it runs only on a self-hosted WordPress installation. There are no vendor-hosted form pages, no standalone public links and no embedding on a site that is not WordPress. If your company moves off WordPress, or a campaign needs a form on a Webflow page, a Notion doc or a bare domain, the plugin cannot follow. Every alternative on this page is cloud-hosted and gives you both a public URL and an embed snippet. **Paperform** is the closest match in capability, and its forms work as embeds, as standalone pages with custom domains, or as guided one-question-at-a-time flows.

What do I actually get for the Elite tier at $259/year?

Elite unlocks unlimited site licences, WordPress Multisite, priority support and every first-party add-on, which in practice means the signature field, Conversational Forms, the Survey, Quiz and Poll add-ons, Partial Entries, coupons, webhooks, User Registration, Salesforce and Google Analytics. Read that list closely and notice how much of it is standard elsewhere. Webhooks in particular being a top-tier feature is unusual in 2026. The signature field is also a field rather than a signing product: there is no countersigning, no reminder chase and no audit trail attached to a legal document. **Paperform** includes guided mode, save and resume, partial submissions, webhooks and coupons on Pro, and Papersign handles the contract end of the job with 25 signed documents a month on Pro and 100 on Business.

Does Gravity Forms do Excel-style calculations, or do I need Gravity Wiz?

Native Gravity Forms calculations are merge-tag arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, divide against other number fields. There are no IF statements, no nested formulas and no functions, so conditional pricing needs the third-party Gravity Wiz Advanced Calculations perk, bought and renewed separately from a vendor who is not Rocketgenius. That is a dependency in the middle of your pricing logic. **Paperform** 's calculations are Excel-style in the box, and they reach past pricing: one formula can decide whether a question or a whole page appears, which conditional email fires, what gets pushed to an integration and what the success page says. **Cognito Forms** is the other strong answer here, with a calculation engine that handles repeating sections and line-item order forms at $19/month billed annually.

Is Gravity Forms HIPAA compliant or SOC 2 certified?

Neither. Rocketgenius holds no SOC 2 and no ISO 27001, offers no BAA, and the official documentation says so directly. Form data sits unencrypted in your WordPress database, and compliance is treated as a property of your hosting rather than of the product. Self-hosting is not an answer to a security questionnaire, because the reviewer wants an attestation and you have a description of your server. **Paperform** is SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and CCPA compliant with SAML SSO, enforced 2FA, BYO S3 on Business and EU or Australian data residency on Enterprise, but it is not HIPAA compliant and signs no BAAs. For protected health information the options on this page are **Jotform**, **Cognito Forms**, **Typeform**, **SurveyMonkey** or Google Forms under a Workspace BAA.

Gravity Forms shipped an MCP server. Does that make it an AI form builder?

Not in the way most teams mean. Version 3.1 added a built-in MCP server on every licence tier, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code can build forms and manage entries from plain language. It is a genuine piece of engineering and it is aimed squarely at developers, which is also the limitation: it needs WordPress 6.9 or newer with the Abilities API, it is self-hosted only, and it ships disabled by default. Inside the Gravity Forms admin itself there is still no form generation, no calculations assistant and no AI summary of responses. The person who needs to change the intake form on Tuesday morning works in ops, not in an IDE. **Paperform** puts generation, AI-written calculation and scoring rules, and AI Insights on open-text answers inside the editor that person already uses, and adding them to the account costs nothing because seats are not metered.

Who maintains my forms if the Gravity Wiz or GravityKit add-on stops being updated?

You do. First-party add-ons follow Rocketgenius, but the perks that fill the real gaps, advanced calculations, visual reporting through GFChart, entry views through GravityKit, are independent commercial products with their own roadmaps and their own renewals. Any of them can be retired, and none of them are obliged to keep pace with a WordPress core release that breaks something. Add the base plugin, PHP versions, backups and security patching, and a form has become a small ops surface. **Paperform** is one hosted vendor for forms, eSignatures and workflows, so there is nothing to update and one support desk to email when something goes wrong.

Is Gravity Forms still owned by the people who built it?

No. Rocketgenius, Inc. was founded in Virginia Beach in 2008 and built Gravity Forms into the WordPress forms market leader, with more than five million active sites and roughly 56% category share by 6sense's count. The company was acquired in 2025, so the roadmap now answers to an owner rather than to the founders. That is worth weighing for a tool your intake and payment flows depend on, alongside the genuine upside of an eighteen-year track record and customers like ExxonMobil and Mercedes-Benz Group. **Paperform** is younger at ten years old, founded in 2016, and still bootstrapped, profitable and run by the people who started it. Gravity Forms has the longer history; the question is whose interests the next three years of roadmap serve.

Do I have to pay extra to get help from Gravity Forms?

Not extra, but the level of help is a function of the tier: Basic and Pro come with standard support and priority support arrives with Elite at $259/year. The larger point is how support fragments in a self-hosted stack. When a submission does not reach the CRM, the question could belong to Rocketgenius, to the add-on vendor, to your host or to whoever wrote the theme, and that triage is your job. **Paperform** builds human support into the seat price rather than selling it back as a separate enablement engagement at signing, and it rates 4.7 on Capterra and 4.9 on GetApp for support. There is also only one desk to write to, because there is only one vendor in the stack.

Can I migrate my Gravity Forms entries to a hosted platform?

Your data comes out cleanly. Entries export as CSV, forms export as JSON, and the REST API can pull both, so nothing is trapped in the WordPress database. The forms themselves do not transfer, because no SaaS platform reads a Gravity Forms JSON export, so a migration means exporting the entries and rebuilding the forms. That is less painful than it sounds when the new tool starts you from something: **Paperform** ships 30,000+ templates plus prebuilt Stepper workflows and Papersign documents, against the roughly 15 templates in the Gravity Forms gallery. There is a 7-day trial with no card if you want to rebuild one form before committing. For a broader view of the field, see our [best form builders](/form-builders/best-form-builders/) roundup.

Which Gravity Forms alternative is best if I want to stay on WordPress?

If staying inside WordPress is non-negotiable, stay on Gravity Forms. It has 500+ developer hooks, an Add-On Framework, a REST API and the deepest first-party add-on library in the category, and no hosted platform will match that level of integration with your theme, your user table and your existing plugins. The honest test is whether WordPress is genuinely the requirement or simply where the form happens to live today. If it is the latter, **Paperform** embeds into a WordPress page with a snippet and takes the process out of the plugin layer, so the signature, the approval chain and the CRM update stop depending on the health of a PHP stack you also have to patch.
