Jotform vs Typeform vs Wufoo: Which Form Builder Wins in 2026?
Jotform is the most capable at $34/month billed annually, with 40+ payment processors and HIPAA on Gold. Typeform is the best-looking at $28/month annually but caps Basic at 100 responses. Wufoo is the cheapest at $16.25/month annually and the thinnest by a distance. All three bill you for growing.
These three land on the same shortlist for an odd reason: they are cheap, familiar and old enough that somebody on the team has used each one. What separates them is not really features. It is where each product stops. Jotform stops at its meters, of which there are six running at once. Typeform stops at 100 responses on the plan most people buy. Wufoo stops at the product itself, which has not gained a dated release note since August 2020.
Below, all three are compared on the five things that decide a purchase: what a plan costs and what it caps, integrations and API access, conditional logic, payment processors, and compliance. Every figure was read from the vendors' own pricing pages in September 2026. The verdict is a decision tree, because the three rarely compete for the same buyer, and forcing one into the wrong job is the expensive mistake.
Quick verdict: who each one is for
Jotform
Best for: one operator who needs an unusual capability in a hurry, whether that is a regional payment gateway, HIPAA forms, or collecting data on a phone with no signal.
Typeform
Best for: a short, customer-facing form where completion rate is the number being reported, volume is predictable, and Stripe is already the processor.
Wufoo
Best for: a plain contact, registration or feedback form on a tight budget, where nothing has to happen after the response lands and nobody else needs to edit it.
Three products, three different places they stop
The gap is visible before any feature table. Jotform's front door sells capability, Typeform's sells the experience of answering, and Wufoo's sells the absence of a learning curve. Each promise implies a different buyer, and each carries a different ceiling.
Feature comparison
Read the logic, payments and modern-features rows before anything else. That is where a twenty-year-old product that kept investing separates from a twenty-year-old product that did not.

The five dimensions that decide it
Each block below stands on its own. Skip to whichever one is blocking the decision.
Pricing
Wufoo starts at $16.25/month billed annually for 1,000 entries, Typeform at $28/month annually for 100 responses, and Jotform at $34/month annually for 1,000 submissions. The ladders behave differently above that. Wufoo runs Starter $16.25, Professional $33.25, Advanced $83.25 and Ultimate $210.25, with no enterprise tier at all and $0.05 charged for every entry past the cap. Typeform runs Basic $28, Plus $56 and Business $91, and Growth Flow at $266 raises neither the 10,000-response nor the five-seat ceiling. Jotform runs Bronze $34, Silver $39 and Gold $99 while metering submissions, forms, form views, stored submissions, fields per form and signed documents simultaneously. Seats are the quiet cost: Jotform is single-user through Gold, and Wufoo's sixth user means moving from $399 to $999 a year.
Integrations & API
Jotform lists 150+ native integrations, Typeform 120+ and Wufoo around 50, and all three expose a REST API with webhooks. Jotform's is the most operational catalogue, spanning CRMs, storage, payments and a Salesforce AppExchange listing. Typeform's is marketing-weighted around HubSpot, Salesforce, Klaviyo and Google Analytics, with Contacts & Automations sold as a $25/month add-on for 2,400 actions. Wufoo's list is the shortest and, like the rest of the product, roughly where it was several years ago, though its API allowance is the most generous at the bottom: 100 requests a day on the free plan and 10,000 on Starter. All three rely on Zapier or Make for anything the native list misses, which puts the automation bill with a fourth vendor.
Conditional logic
Jotform offers unlimited field rules and a calculations widget from its free plan, Typeform gates advanced logic and calculations to Plus at $56/month annually, and Wufoo caps branching at 50 lines per form with no calculations at any price. Wufoo's free plan allows three rules, and its reviewers describe splitting a form in two to fit under the 50-line ceiling. Typeform's branching is clean to build but the one-question-at-a-time canvas makes a deep tree hard to hold in your head. Jotform is the only one of the three that does scoring and calculation without an upgrade, and also the one whose complex logic draws the most reliability complaints.
Payments
Jotform supports 40+ payment processors from its free plan, Wufoo supports five (Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, Square and Braintree) from Professional at $33.25/month annually, and Typeform supports Stripe alone from Basic. Jotform is the clear winner on choice, with the catch that payment submissions carry their own meter: 10/month free, 100 on Bronze, 1,000 on Gold. Wufoo makes taking money a tier upgrade and then offers nothing around it, with no products, subscriptions, coupons or tax handling. Typeform added native recurring payments in August 2026, still Stripe-only, and has no coupons, tax rules or invoicing either.
Compliance (HIPAA / GDPR / SOC 2)
All three hold GDPR, CCPA and SOC 2. Jotform is HIPAA compliant on Gold ($99/month annually) and Enterprise, Typeform covers HIPAA through its contact-sales Enterprise plan, and Wufoo is not HIPAA compliant and signs no BAA. Jotform and Typeform both carry ISO 27001 and PCI DSS; Jotform adds FERPA, StateRAMP and HECVAT, which shortens procurement in education and public sector deals, and Typeform added ISO/IEC 42001 for AI management systems in June 2026. Wufoo is the thinnest filing by some way: PCI DSS through its parent, no ISO 27001, no SSO and no SLA on any tier.
Jotform: the most product for the money, sold one meter at a time
Against these two, Jotform wins the capability argument without much of a contest. Bootstrapped since 2006 and now at roughly $144.9M in annual revenue across 40+ million users, it has spent two decades accumulating: 20,000+ templates against Wufoo's 400, 40+ payment gateways against Typeform's one, native iOS and Android apps for offline collection that neither rival offers, e-signatures through Jotform Sign, Tables, Apps and AI Agents. Feature gating is genuinely unusual too, in that there is almost none. Everything is on the free Starter plan and only the ceilings move with price. It holds 4.7 on G2 from 5,595 reviews and sits at #1 in that category.
The bill is where the model shows. Jotform meters six things at once and the one that runs out first is rarely the one you budgeted for: 1,000 submissions on Bronze, 25 forms, 100,000 form views, 10,000 stored submissions, 250 fields per form and 100 signed documents. A campaign that works is what breaks the plan, and the tier you move to costs more for capacity you did not want. Seats are the harder wall, because Starter through Gold are all single-user, so the second person who needs edit access is an Enterprise conversation rather than an upgrade. Reviewers are also consistent that twenty years of accumulation has not aged uniformly. Advanced widgets and complex logic behave inconsistently, the builder gets crowded as a form grows, and support response times draw steady complaints at 4.4 on G2.
Typeform: design worth paying for, priced by the response
Typeform is the only one of these three that anybody would describe as beautiful, and on a short customer-facing form that translates into money. The one-question-at-a-time flow, the typography and the transitions produce something that reads as brand work rather than admin, which is a different category of object from a Wufoo form or a Jotform grid. The company reports 3.5x the response rate of a standard form, 95% of the Fortune 500 use it, and the 2026 releases added a native signature question type, recurring Stripe payments and AI data enrichment. It rates 4.5 on G2 and 4.7 on Capterra.
The price of that polish is the recurring complaint. Basic at $28/month annually covers 100 responses and one user; Plus at $56 covers 1,000 and three; Business at $91 covers 10,000 and five; and Growth Flow at $266 raises neither of those last two numbers, buying enrichment and automations instead. Trustpilot sits at 2.6 across 775 reviews, and the one-star text is overwhelmingly about caps, renewals and unexpected paywalls rather than the software. There is also only ever one format. A 40-question application in Typeform is 40 separate screens, which is the shape of form where both Jotform's and Wufoo's classic page layouts are simply easier to fill in.
Wufoo: the cheapest way in, and a product that stopped moving
Wufoo deserves credit for the thing it actually sells. It is the cheapest paid plan of the three at $195 a year, it takes about ten minutes to learn, it has been running since 2006 with 3+ million users behind it, and it puts API access on the free plan where most rivals do not. Amazon, Disney, Microsoft and the American Red Cross all have Wufoo forms in production somewhere. For a contact form, a small event registration or a volunteer sign-up that nobody will touch again, paying more would be waste. If that is genuinely the job, use the simple tool.
Past that job the absences pile up quickly. No calculations, no scoring, no answer piping, no save-and-resume, no signature field, no booking field, no AI of any kind, and conditional logic capped at 50 lines. Payments need the $33.25/month Professional tier and come with no eCommerce around them. HIPAA is unavailable at any price, there is no SSO and no SLA on any plan, and support is email-only at 3.8 on G2, the lowest rating of the three. The context for all of it is ownership: SurveyMonkey bought Wufoo for $35M in 2011, the team is now 11-50 people inside Momentive, and the release notes page ends in August 2020. Wufoo is stable rather than maintained, and those are different promises when you are picking something to build a process on.

Independent walkthroughs are thin on the ground for Jotform and Wufoo, but two recent videos cover Typeform's builder, pricing and the trade-offs people hit in practice.
Pricing comparison
Compare the caps before the headline rates, because the three meter different things. Wufoo counts entries and bills $0.05 for each one past the line. Typeform counts responses and seats together. Jotform counts six quantities at once and keeps the second seat behind a sales call.

What users say
The B2B ratings track the analysis closely. Jotform leads at 4.7 on G2 from 5,595 reviews and 4.7 on Capterra from 2,926, with support at 4.4 the weakest sub-score. Typeform holds 4.5 on G2 from around 1,002 reviews and 4.7 on Capterra, but value for money at 4.0 is the lowest figure anywhere in this comparison. Wufoo trails at 4.2 on G2 from 296 reviews and 4.4 on Capterra, dragged down by support at 3.8 and complaints that cluster on the dated interface. The consumer platforms break harder: Typeform's Trustpilot score is 2.6, and almost none of the negative text is about the builder. People rate the product on G2 and the invoice on Trustpilot.
The verdict: a decision tree
- Choose Jotform if one person owns the forms and you need a specific capability now: a regional payment gateway, HIPAA with a BAA on Gold at $99/month annually, offline collection on a phone, FERPA or StateRAMP coverage, or scoring and calculations without an upgrade. Budget a tier above your estimate, because the meters move before the features do.
- Choose Typeform if the form is short, customer-facing and attached to a brand, completion rate is the metric you report, Stripe is already your processor, and monthly volume is steady enough that you will not be shopping tiers halfway through a campaign.
- Choose Wufoo if the form is plain, the budget is the constraint, the volume is low, and nothing needs to happen afterwards. It is the right call for a contact form and the wrong call for anything with a payment, a signature or a second person involved.
- Choose none of the three if you need two of their strengths at once, if the form starts a process rather than ending one, or if a good month should not arrive as a bigger invoice.
That last branch is the one most teams land on. Each of these tools is strong exactly where the other two are weak, so the moment a requirement spans two of them the shortlist stops working. A registration form that looks like your brand, prices itself with real logic, takes a card through your existing processor, gets a document signed and routes the result to two people is not a Jotform form, a Typeform or a Wufoo. It is a workflow, and on this shortlist a workflow means two or three vendors and you as the join between them.
Resolving the tradeoff: where Paperform fits
Start with the thing all three have in common. Wufoo bills $0.05 per entry past the cap and moves you up a tier for a sixth colleague, Typeform prices responses and seats together on every plan including the $266 one, and Jotform runs six meters and reserves multi-user for Enterprise. In each case the invoice rises because the business went well, which is a tax on your own success rather than a price for software. Paperform does not sell that way. Submissions and users are unlimited within fair use on paid plans, so the busiest month costs what the quietest one did, and the tenth colleague changes nothing. Pro is $59/month, or $49/month billed annually, above all three at the door. What the difference buys is a bill that stops moving.
The second argument is consolidation. Matching the process described above with anything on this page means a form tool, a signing tool and an automation tool: three contracts, three renewal dates, three admin consoles, and you personally holding the joins together when something breaks mid-process. One Paperform subscription covers forms, Papersign for eSignatures and Stepper for workflow automation on every plan. Pro includes 25 signed documents a month, unlimited workflow steps and 20,000 automation credits; Business at $124/month annually adds 100 signed documents, 100,000 credits, 10 workspaces, SSO and the Business API. Automation credits are the one thing Paperform meters, at $10/month per additional 10,000, which is worth sizing up front.
On the product: the document-style editor mixes prose, images, video and questions on a single page, so the form reads like a landing page instead of linking to one, and Guided Mode renders that same form one question at a time when the Typeform effect is what you want. Excel-style calculations run underneath and drive far more than a total, deciding which questions and pages appear, which conditional emails fire, what reaches an integration and what the success page says, which is the layer Wufoo has no answer to at all. Payments run through Stripe, PayPal, Square, Braintree and Google Pay with products, subscriptions, coupons, tax and refunds. There are 4000+ integrations, 30,000+ templates, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and CCPA, a 7-day trial with no card, and ten years of bootstrapped, profitable independence behind it, with support included in the seat price rather than quoted as an enablement fee.
Two concessions, stated plainly. Paperform is not HIPAA compliant and signs no BAAs, so protected health information belongs on Jotform Gold or Typeform Enterprise, not here. And for a genuinely simple one-off contact form on a tight budget, Wufoo Starter at $195 a year is cheaper than anything Paperform sells and does the job. For simple forms, use the simple tool.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Wufoo or Typeform cheaper once you are actually collecting responses?
Wufoo, by roughly ten times at the entry tier. Wufoo Starter is $16.25/month billed annually ($195/year) for 1,000 entries a month; Typeform Basic is $28/month annually for 100 responses. The gap widens rather than closes: Wufoo Professional at $33.25/month annually carries 5,000 entries where Typeform Plus at $56/month annually carries 1,000. What Typeform's premium buys is the conversational presentation and the brand polish around it, not capacity. What Wufoo's low price buys is a product that has not shipped a dated release note since August 2020. Both charge you more as the response count climbs, which is the part neither pricing page frames as a downside. Paperform takes the opposite position: submissions are unlimited within fair use on Pro at $49/month billed annually, so volume is not a billing event.
Which of Jotform, Typeform and Wufoo can take PayPal?
Jotform and Wufoo can; Typeform cannot. Jotform supports 40+ processors from its free Starter plan, Wufoo supports five (Stripe, PayPal, Authorize.net, Square and Braintree) but only from Professional at $33.25/month annually, and Typeform supports Stripe and nothing else. The practical differences sit past the gateway list. Jotform meters payment submissions separately from ordinary ones, at 10/month free and 100/month on Bronze. Wufoo has no products, subscriptions, coupons or tax handling, so anything resembling a store means reconciling a spreadsheet afterwards. Typeform added native recurring payments in August 2026, still through Stripe alone. If the checkout needs real pricing logic behind it, see Paperform vs Jotform for how Excel-style calculations price a basket live across five gateways.
Does Wufoo have conditional logic as good as Jotform or Typeform?
No, and the ceiling is a hard number. Wufoo caps branching at 50 lines of logic per form, with only 3 rules on the free plan and no calculation fields at any price. Jotform gives unlimited field-level rules and a calculations widget from its free Starter plan. Typeform includes basic branching on Basic and gates advanced logic and calculations to Plus at $56/month annually. Reviewers report splitting a Wufoo form into two to get under the 50-line limit, which turns one dataset into two. Jotform is the most capable of the three on paper, with the honest caveat that complex rule sets on a busy form are also what its reviewers most often describe as glitchy. A quoting or scoring form is the case where all three start to strain.
Which is HIPAA compliant: Jotform, Typeform or Wufoo?
Jotform and Typeform are; Wufoo is not and will not sign a BAA at any price, so it is disqualified outright for protected health information. Jotform enables HIPAA features on Gold at $99/month billed annually and on Enterprise. Typeform covers HIPAA through its Enterprise plan, which is contact-sales and positioned at six or more users. All three carry GDPR, CCPA and SOC 2. Jotform and Typeform add ISO 27001 and PCI DSS, and Jotform also lists FERPA, StateRAMP and HECVAT, which matters in education and public sector procurement. Wufoo has no SSO and no SLA on any tier, including Ultimate at $210.25/month annually. Paperform is not HIPAA compliant either, so for PHI the choice here is Jotform Gold or Typeform Enterprise. The best form builders for healthcare guide covers the regulated shortlist properly.
Jotform and Wufoo both launched in 2006. Why are they so different now?
Because one stayed independent and one was acquired. Jotform is bootstrapped, took no outside funding, and reports roughly $144.9M in annual revenue across 40+ million users. Twenty years of reinvestment produced 20,000+ templates, 150+ integrations, native iOS and Android apps, Jotform Sign, Tables, Apps and AI Agents. Wufoo was bought by SurveyMonkey for $35M in 2011 and now runs as an 11-50 person unit inside Momentive, with no AI features, no calculations, no signature field, no save-and-resume and a release notes page that stops in August 2020. Typeform is the third model: founded in 2012, $193M raised through Series C, and a pricing trajectory that looks like what venture funding tends to require. Vendor structure is a real input into a platform decision, which is why it is worth checking who owns the roadmap before you standardise on a tool.
How do Jotform, Typeform and Wufoo compare on integrations and API access?
Jotform lists 150+ native integrations, Typeform 120+ and Wufoo around 50, and all three ship a REST API with webhooks. Wufoo is unexpectedly reasonable at the entry point here: API access starts on the free plan at 100 requests a day and scales to 10,000/day on Starter and 100,000/day on Ultimate. Jotform's catalogue is the broadest and the most operational, including a Salesforce AppExchange listing. Typeform's leans marketing, with HubSpot, Salesforce, Klaviyo and Google Analytics, and its Contacts & Automations capability is a paid add-on at $25/month for 2,400 actions. Past the native lists, all three hand automation to Zapier or Make, so the workflow meter moves to a fourth vendor and a fourth invoice.
When should you rule out all three of Jotform, Typeform and Wufoo?
When the form is the first step of a process rather than the entire job, and when more than one person needs to build. Every plan on this page meters what you collect, and two of the three meter seats hard: Jotform is single-user from Starter through Gold, and Wufoo allows one user on Starter, five on Professional and twenty on Advanced, so a sixth colleague costs the jump from $399 to $999 a year. A collect, price, sign and route process means buying a form tool, a signing tool and an automation tool, then owning every join between them. Paperform covers all three in one subscription with unlimited submissions and seats within fair use on paid plans. Detail lives in Paperform vs Jotform, Paperform vs Typeform and Paperform vs Wufoo.
